Tsurumi adds to residue drainage pump series

Equipped with a specially designed bottom plate, the LSC-series pumps drain residue down to the lowest water level of 1 mm.

Tsurumi has extended its LSC-series, submersible single-phase compact residue drainage pump, with a new 750 W model, the LSC2.75S, for use in the construction market and for discharging water from flooded basements.

With a maximum head (15 m) 36% higher than that of the conventional 480 W model, the LSC2.75S sucks residue to drain spots deeper in the ground and farther from the pump than before. Equipped with a specially designed bottom plate, the LSC-series pumps drain residue down to the lowest water level of 1 mm, making them suitable for a small amount of residue and pools of water in small hollows.

Other features of the LSC-series include a reverse-flow prevention mechanism, which prevents the sucked water from flowing back when the pump is turned off, and a multi-directional hose coupling, which enables easy switching with just a wrench, in the discharge direction between vertical and inclined.

As with the conventional 480 W model, the LSC2.75S model is a compact, lightweight submersible pump with high levels of durability. Its flow-thru design provides forced cooling of the motor to support long hours of continuous duty at a low water level.

Tsurumi at MINExpo 2021

Tsurumi will be displaying several of its product lines suited for handling the rigors of mining.

Tsurumi Pump is highlighting the robust engineering of its pump lines at MINExpo International 2021 in Las Vegas, from Sept. 13 – 15. The manufacturer will occupy booth number 1413 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

As manufacturers wrestle with supply chain disruptions and shipping delays, Tsurumi has worked to ensure timely availability of its products, in particular larger, high-head dewatering pumps widely used in the mining sector. A number of pumps suited for handling the rigors of mining will be on display at MINExpo this year, including:

Tsurumi’s booth will also feature stainless steel and titanium pumps, which are manufactured to withstand heavily acidic runoff that can quickly degrade equipment, an issue that is commonly encountered in mining applications.

From the impeller to the wet ends, the materials provide increased wear resistance, making them suitable for abrasive applications such as construction site drainage, commercial/industrial mine dewatering or effluent transfer.

“Pumps in mines are often expected to move high volumes of water that is laden with pyrite, iron, sand and other gritty solids.” said Glenn Wieczorek, managing director of Tsurumi Pump in North America. “The continuous duty motors, high chromium impellers and adjustable wear rings found in Tsurumi pumps make them preferable in situations like these.”

MINExpo is the world’s largest mining tradeshow gathering more than 1,100 exhibitors and dozens of thousands of attendees.

KBL’s ultra-efficient self-priming coupled pumpset

The self-priming coupled pumpset offers high efficiency with low lifetime operating costs.

Indian pump manufacturing company Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) is now offering its self-priming (SP) coupled pumpset with the company’s new IE5 motor.

The SP coupled pumpset is designed for handling light chemicals, effluent, sewage, rain or flood water and dewatering applications.

The IE5 motor achieves its high efficiency with an AC induction motor design. KBL said the pumpset is easy to operate, maintain and service as there are no permanent magnets, added accessories or control equipment.

According to the manufacturer, the IE5 robust design and high-grade insulation means it can operate under a wide variety of conditions and withstand extreme power fluctuation, guaranteeing reliability, enhanced equipment safety and long life.

The pump is self-priming for a quicker start time, has a head range of up to 32 m and a discharge range of up to 75 l/s.

Tsurumi offers compact dewatering model

Tsurumi’s small dewatering pump, the LB series, is designed for applications where space is tight, particularly construction.

Secured by rope or chain, an LB can be used in applications which involve narrow pipes, small tanks, deep pits and in remote locations that are difficult to reach with larger equipment.

The LB model has a fully symmetrical design with no protruding parts, allowing it to be lowered to unknown depths without any risk of snagging. With a diameter of only 187 mm, the pump’s round cross-section even fits into smaller filter pipes. There is also a version with a water level sensor which is just a few millimetres longer. The pump then controls itself automatically, switching on or off depending on the water level.

The LB presses water with dirt particles up to 6 mm in size through the housing, allowing optimal cooling of the motor. The models in the series pump 225–440 l/minute and to a maximum of 17.5 m. The smallest model weighs around 10 kg dry, the largest around 30 kg.

Atlas Copco launches dewatering pumps with specialist polymer

HardHat technology is a tough polyethylene resin material resistant to corrosion and the effects of extreme temperatures.

Atlas Copco Power & Flow has introduced two new PAS dewatering surface pumps which include the company’s HardHat polymer, a material resistant to corrosion and the effects of extreme temperatures and harsh operating environments.

The lightweight but tough canopy means the PAS 100 and PAS 150 pumps are durable and easy to service. It is also resistant to discoloration, important for rental companies, as the equipment’s resale value is maximised.

The pumps’ hinged door design provides simple serviceability on site as all components are easy to access. The pump can be cleaned and restarted in just three minutes and serviced in under 60 minutes, which is 10% faster than previous models.

It has been incorporated on Atlas Copco’s compressor and light tower range for over 15 years and we’re delighted to now extend the technology to our PAS pumps.”

Tsurumi offers impact cover for sensors

Once the protective cover is in place the sensor is protected from external damage. even in the event of a violent impact.

Tsurumi has developed a conical ram protection cover made of solid sheet steel to guarantee protection of the built-in water level sensor even in the event of a violent impact.

The installation is simple and once the protective cover is in place the sensor is protected from external damage. The sensor on Tsurumi pumps, such as the KTVE and KTZE series, is already protected to a degree. Its flexible rubber bend absorbs shocks quite effectively, although not entirely. The company says the new protection cover almost entirely rules out mechanical damage to the sensor.

Sensor pumps allow the device to control itself. If the water rises to a certain level, the unit starts up and switches off again when the level drops, saving operating costs. The ram protection safeguards this function.

Tsurumi relies on electrodes to measure the water level, which is safer as it does not rely on mechanics and electrodes react faster and are usually more accurate. As all measuring instruments are vulnerable, the recommendation to pump operators is to install low-cost ram protection.

Atlas Copco introduces platform for dewatering pumps

The Wear Deflector is a platform within the pump with a hydraulic design to ensure the pump can perform for longer under tough operating conditions.

Atlas Copco Power and Flow has launched the Wear Deflector platform for its WEDA D70 electric submersible dewatering pumps, allowing construction and industrial sites to remove water more reliably.

The platform is initially for use with the WEDA D70 pump and in future it will be available to the whole WEDA D drainage range. Bart Duijvelaar, product marketing manager, submersible pumps at Atlas Copco Power and Flow, said: “Solids suspended in water can cause an impeller to wear and prematurely fail, however, this innovative design means the pumps are exceptionally long-lasting. The impellers are also manufactured from high-chrome stainless steel (55 HRC) and as such, have high hardness and exceptional wear resistance.”

The WEDA D70 drainage pumps can pump water with a density of up to 1100 kg/m3 and handle solids up to 7 mm in diameter.

Xylem unveils industrial dewatering pump

Xylem’s Flygt Biboα is a dewatering pump designed to significantly reduce energy, wear and tear, and maintenance costs and it is part of a new generation of smart pumps which brings built-in intelligence to industrial dewatering.

Applying Decision Intelligence, Flygt Biboα automatically adapts to its environment and only operates when needed, delivering energy savings of up to 60% compared with traditional dewatering pumps. Operational wear and tear is also reduced by up to 70% as instances of snoring and dry running are minimised, leading to as much as a 50% reduction in repair and maintenance costs. Additionally, due to its compact and stable design, Biboα has 30% fewer components, reducing the amount of inventory needed.

Tsurumi showcases engineering at World of Concrete 2021

This week Tsurumi Pump takes its portfolio of general construction pumps to World of Concrete 2021, which takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center, from 8–10 June, with seminars and other education programmes starting 7 June.

Tsurumi’s booth (N2468 in the North Hall) will feature the company’s range of dewatering and trash pumps, and a special cutaway display of its HS2.4S electric submersible pump, designed to tackle water that contains sand and other debris with minimal wear and clogging, designed for many types of construction applications.

By displaying the inner workings of the HS2.4S, Tsurumi will give attendees an in-depth look at the robust engineering the company employs throughout its product lines. For example, its silicon carbide seals are not exposed to the elements but are sealed in a bath of oil, protecting them from outside heat and moisture, which enables the pumps to handle the aggressive applications found in tunnelling, mining and construction.
